This is a mixed-media painting on gallery-wrapped canvas, measuring 5″ x 7″.  I started with an acrylic base and tossed a number of interesting shiny, sparkly, chunky bits onto the still-wet paint.  This is one piece that doesn’t want to be seen in any particular way… every couple of weeks, I change the orientation.  Currently, it’s hanging landscape with the darker bits at the bottom.

And speaking of jewels, today is Bohdi Day for the Buddhists.  (The Three Jewels of Buddhism are Buddha, Dharma [teachings] and Sangha [community]).  Today commemorates the day Siddhartha Gautama attained enlightenment under the Bodhi tree.

Also in holiday news, for our Catholic friends, today is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception… and for our Muslim friends, it is Eid-al Adha, the Feast of Sacrifice.

  1. It makes me think of those sugary straws of powdered candy: Pixie Sticks! I think almost everything looks like candy to me.

I noticed your fascination with candy. What’s up with that? Is it the impending holidays?
