In case you’re like me and have a hard time remembering the difference between stalactites and stalagmites… the stalactites are the ones that hang down from the ceilings of caves.

Valley of the Triceratops

I must have had dinosaurs on my mind when I was naming the paintings of this batch, because here I saw part of a herd of triceratops.  (Did dinosaurs have herds?)  I might have recently watched Land Before Time.

Dinosaur Burial Ground

Most of my encaustic paintings are done using a single color of wax.  The thickness of the wax on the paper and the various designs etched into the wax often give the impression that I’m using several different colors.  Not so.

Little House on the Prairie

This is another of my encaustics.
When I finished smearing with the iron, I thought the little shape towards the bottom looked like a house.  On a prairie.  On a Kanas prairie, to be precise.  Do you see where this is heading?
