Scrappy

This little encaustic piece was an experiment in texture.  I played with layering some of the different types of encaustic paints and even tossed in a teeny scrap of tissue paper.

The metallic paints are grainier… less shiny and slickery than the regular paints.  But the regular paints can give some really interesting patterns, depending on the way I move the iron around and lift it off the paper.

This one always gets a lot of attention at the art and craft fairs I do.  Of the small encaustics, this is probably the funkiest.
